Resins
Resins are frequently used as additives when processing rubber. Primarily, resins are applied to improve processing and to modify the product’s physical characteristics. These characteristics mainly include :
- Dispersion
- Miscibility when blended with polymers
- Tack
- Hardness
PRODUCT C9 Hydrocarbon resins | DROPPING POINT ( OC) | DOSAGE (phr) | APPLICATIONS |
Homogenisator 501/ 501D | 100 ± 5 | 3 – 15 | Improve the homogeneity of rubber blends from polymers with different polarities or viscosities. These hydrocarbon resins provides a better building tack for raw compounds, and facilitates the processing during mixing, extruding, and calendering. |
PRODUCT C5 Hydrocarbon resins | DROPPING POINT ( OC) | DOSAGE (phr) | APPLICATIONS |
Deotack 1100 | 100 ± 5 | 2 – 6 | Deotack 1100 acts as a homogenizing and tackifying resin on the basis of an aliphatic C5-hydrocarbon resin. It has a light colour, no odour and is compatible with a broad range of polymers. |
Resinous plasticizer / tackifyer
Deotack P and Deotack 70 DL show positive effects on the tackifying properties of compounds with low tack. It is also especially suited for oil resistant products, as it is hardly extractable from vulcanizates by aliphatic hydrocarbons and mineral oils and therefore provides improved swelling properties.
PRODUCT Synthetic Polyether | ACTIVE SUBSTANCE (%) | DOSAGE (phr) | APPLICATIONS |
Deotack P | 100 | 3 – 15 | Deotack P is a polyether plasticiser mainly for use in polar elastomers, e.g. in NBR and CR |
Deotack 70 DL | 70 | 5 – 20 | Deotack 70 DL is a 70% dry liquid form of Deotack P on a silica carrier. Due to its form as a dust-free powder, Deotack 70 DL is easier to dose and, conveniently, can be used without preheating. |
PRODUCT Liquid rosin ester – dry liquid | ACTIVE SUBSTANCE (%) | DOSAGE (phr) | APPLICATIONS |
Deotack LRE | 100 ± 5 | 2 – 6 | Deotack LRE is a liquid rosin ester with a low acid number. It is based on a natural tree resin and listed in FDA § 175.105 |
Deotack LRE 70 DL | 70 | 5 – 15 | Deotack LRE 70 DL is an easily manageable dry liquid of the viscous ester. Both products provide a good green tack without negative influences on the vulcanization behavior. |
PRODUCT Alkyl phenolic resin | ACTIVE SUBSTANCE (%) | DOSAGE (phr) | APPLICATIONS |
Deotack RS | 100 | 2 – 6 | Deotack RS is an alkyl-phenol resin, commonly used in compounds requiring an excellent green tack. The addition of Deotack RS provides an outstanding long-term green tack. |
SBR High Styrene Resins
High styrene content copolymer used to reinforce rubber compounds (SBR, EVA, NR, CR, BR, and EPDM, among others).
It maintains the structure, high level of hardness, high modulus with good flexibility, offering good tear and abrasion resistance maintaining the compounds’ low density. Notable improvement in the processing of the surfaces of calendered and extruded compounds, representing an excellent alternative to compounds with elevated mineral filler content
PRODUCT | STYRENE CONTENT(%) | SOFTENING POINT ( °C) | APPLICATIONS |
S-6H | 83 | 45 | In granule form, it is used as a reinforcing agent. E.g.: Compact shoe soles, mechanical pieces and tires |
S-6H PA | 83 | 45 | Deotack 70 DL is a 70% dry liquid form of Deotack P on a silica carrier. Due to its form as a dust-free powder, Deotack 70 DL is easier to dose and, conveniently, can be used without preheating. |
Cumarone Indene Resine
Cumarone resin is used in the rubber industry as a softener in natural and synthetic rubber. Its use helps to speed up the mixing operation and the best pigment dispersion. Improves the final properties of the compound. Modulus and hardness are increased, as well as plasticity.
